Artist Statement:
My work reflects the desire to find beauty and peace in the landscape of today.
Our world can be a hectic, chaotic place, where we forget to look at the gifts of beauty outside our windows and in our homes. I try to bring that beauty and peace back into focus by painting my Missouri landscapes and people as they relate to home and family stability.

Bio:
Desiree grew up with the aroma of turpentine and oil paints. Some of her earliest memories were of her mother painting with passion, the murals and portraits of the Napa Valley culture in the 1960’s.
“I can remember being transfixed and in awe of her ability as a child. I was always drawing, sculpting, and experimenting with colors and fiber arts as a child. But I did not pick up a paintbrush until I was in my thirties. That's when my mother gave me my first grumbacher oil paints and I painted my first portrait.”
Desiree developed and refined her skills in acrylics at Drury University under Todd Lowery MFA and now paints daily. The aroma of turpentine and paints once again has brought her to feelings of home. Desiree teaches art at Marshfield Christian School and at workshops in her studio. She also represents Grumbacher fine art company as a fine art instructor at Michaels stores. Desiree is also a Best of Missouri Hands potter.
